…but not at The Money Mountain! Infact, if we continue on this vein, we won’t need a Corbyn-lead government for us to have to eat our pets!
It is fair to say that we’ve not made the progress we wanted to with our new venture. Sure, the money keeps ticking over thanks to matched betting profits (fingers crossed there are some bumper Christmas offers to boost the coffers further), but what is taking the time at the moment and not yielding the results is the business we bought.
Now, none of us was under the illusion that it would be a case of buying a business, tweaking the website and the orders would come rolling in. We’re not that naive, but we had at very least expected a little more engagement from the public. Sadly, not yet.
There was a few messy things to resolve with the business and the associated Facebook and Instagram pages, which still aren’t quite right; and none of us can work out exactly why (for example, we can cross-post from Instagram to Facebook and Twitter, but cannot cross-post from Facebook to Instragram…which, for a business, is the one you really want to be able to do).
The bank account shenanigans is still ongoing, though that is simply as a consequence of time and having forms filled out and sent around the country for each of us to sign. We’re expecting to have that resolved in the next couple of weeks.
It’s not been all bad however. We’ve added new product lines to the site, learned a hell of a lot about Shopify and also about the power of social media – which, unless you hit on something incredible, is pretty limited! Our Facebook posts have been getting between 30 and 90-odd people reach and between 0 and 4 engagements.
We decided to spend some money on boosting a post. We thought, “it’s Black Friday, let’s go for it.” So we chose our target demographic, produced a cracking little post and special offer, put in our credit card details AND…nothing. The post needs review and approval. ARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!
Checking out some online forums, they say that posts can take anywhere between 5mins and 2 days to be approved. The post was place on Thursday afternoon, it is now Saturday morning and we still don’t have the green light from Facebook. It is all very frustrating to say the least, but, lesson learned! Next time, we’ll need to get things moving more quickly so we don’t get caught out again.
That aside, there isn’t too much to report. We’ve not started any new ventures or money making schemes. We can look forward to the newspapers telling us to ditch our daily coffee, take a packed lunch to work and to change our energy supplier to save enough money to bank roll free broadband for the nation, in January. Such joy!
So, a short and sweet update to keep you informed of the various goings on at The Money Mountain. We’ll be back next week!
