If you’re thinking about getting in touch with us about a guest post or sponsored post then you’ve come to the right place.
Before you get in touch with your idea, there are a few things we want you to know. Due to the volume, we may not respond to all the emails we get, so here are some tips to improve the likelihood of getting a response, and getting your article on this site.
Any article that we publish on our site should be (1) relevant, (2) well written, (3) original content, and (4) not overly promotional. Please have that in mind when getting in touch.
Please follow these 5 simple tips when contacting us:
1. Don’t write a completely generic email
If your initial email to us looks like it’s a copy and paste of exactly the same one that you’ve sent another 100 websites then it’s not got much appeal to it.
2. Introduce yourself
Who are you? A website owner, an SEO specialist, a marketing manager? It’s nice to know who we’re connecting with, so don’t be shy.
3. Tell us what it is that you want
This bit is REALLY important. We don’t want to have to guess your true motives for getting an article on our site. Though we’d love to think that people want to write for us just for the prestige of it (who are we kidding?), realistically we understand that you probably want to do one of the following:
- Get a backlink to your website
- Try to sell a product or service
It’s much easier if you tell us which website or product you’re wanting to plug straight away, rather than us finding this out over a series of emails. Or worse, you write an article and it’s so full of promotional content that we can’t use it.
4. Share an example of your work
All articles that we publish on our site need to be unique content that’s relevant to our audience.
In order to show us that you’re able to write a coherent, interesting, original article, we’d like to see a link to something you’ve already written. It doesn’t need to be perfect, just meet a minimum standard.
5. Give us a general idea of what you would like to write about
We often get emails simply saying “I’d like to put an article on your site”. It can take a bit of back-and-forth over email to eventually work out a topic.
What would be much more helpful to us both is you say something along the lines of: “I’ve got a couple of ideas that I could write about, including [insert title of a relevant post idea] or [insert title of another post idea], but I’m happy to discuss other ideas too.”
You don’t need to say exactly that, but you get the picture.
And finally…..
In publishing any guest posts on our site, the following will apply unless agreed otherwise:
- We reserve the right, for whatever reason, not to publish a draft article that you submit to us.
- We retain final editing rights over the article. Of course, we’ll consult with you on it before we publish and give you the opportunity to request changes. We won’t publish things you’re not happy with.
- We reserve the right to remove your post in the future, and if we feel the links you have submitted to us are inappropriate we reserve the right to remove them.
If you’ve read this far then thanks. Don’t let all of the above put you off. It’s simple really – these are just a few tips to help us both. If you want to discuss a post idea with us, please get in contact.
