Well, here we go.
There’s next to no chance that anyone is reading this other than my fellow ‘partners’ in this new venture: Ben and Dave, but that doesn’t matter for now.
Hopefully in time that will change and we’ll look back on this day, Independence Day 2018, as the point where it all began. The day that we finally got up off our collective backsides and made our project a reality.
What the hell is going on here?
That’s a fair question. Let me explain.
There’s more to come that will lay this out in a bit more detail, but for now I’ll just introduce things by saying that this is a finance blog.
‘Not another finance blog’, I hear you say. I appreciate your skepticism too, you old dog.
The thing is, we think this is a bit different. This is a very specific project and we’ve got plans for it. We don’t think you’ve seen a project quite like this and it will hopefully entertain and enlighten you in equal measure.
We’re starting this journey with zero in our collective bank account and we’ll work our way up from there as we explore various ways of making money. Practical ways that you can also try to boost your own financial situation.
But right now, even allowing for the initial euphoria of getting this site up and running, things are a little bleak.
If our starting wealth could be summed up in just one image, it would have to be this:
But actually it’s even worse than that.
In fact, we’re starting in deficit and we’re going to need to work ourselves out of this mess fast. It costs money to get a site even as basic as this up and running so we’ve had to outlay some cash to get this thing off the ground. Now, if you know what you’re doing you can minimise the costs of setting up a site and I’ll talk about that in a future article, but for now we need to urgently turn our attention to clawing back our initial outlay.
Lots to do
Over the next few weeks we’re going to need to be busier than mosquitoes at a nudist colony.
You’re going to see us focussing on 3 things:
- Making this site look less like it’s the homework project of a junior school child – we really need to give this the look and feel of the professional outfit we’d like to be one day.
- Explaining more about what this project is, who we are, and how you can follow along.
- Urgently generating some money so we can pay off our credit card borrowing for the start up costs!
Here’s what the site looked like on the very first day it was created – a bit basic! One day we’ll look back on this and laugh at how far we’ve come. Or cry that we got nowhere at all.
So, if any of this has grabbed your attention and you’ve got even a fleeting interest in personal finance and wealth, give this site a follow as we begin this exciting journey up the money mountain. We plan to share with you how we make money (or how it goes horribly wrong), and how you can either follow our example or learn from our mistakes.
Come follow us as we dive right in.
